GB3DA 2m FM Voice Repeater

GB3DA is the primary 2 metre FM voice repeater for Essex. Based at Danbury Hill near Chelmsford, its central location makes it ideal for general coverage of the county. Earlier units DA-1 and DA-2 used Mk2 CUL logic, whilst the latest DA-4 is based on a Yaesu Fusion repeater. The antenna system is fed via a 6-cavity diplexer from Procom/Telewave, plus a DCI filter on the receiver side.

Notes:-

  • DA-4 installed on 8-Dec-2019 uses a Yaesu DR2-XE System Fusion box inc its internal controller. Normally set for C4FM or FM input, and FM out.
  • Compared to our older units, Idents etc sound different and there is no 'K' ack - please wait for the short Tx squelch tail instead
  • The Yaesu repeater unit can accept C4FM Digital voice on its input and will convert it to FM output
  • The original and spare Tait systems are known as DA-1 and DA-2 respectively.
  • An Upgrade to DA-3 using ADI radios (similar to ER-3) was suspended
  • GB3DA has no networking/linking. It does not support DTMF/Echolink
